MARCH

Remove any debris, old plants and rocks from your garden beds. Prepare the beds with top soil, compost and super phosphate. Fertilize your trees as the leaves begin to appear and apply pre-emergent herbicide to your lawn.

APRIL

Dead head early blooms to encourage the plants to continue flowering. Plant your perrenials and hardy herbs such as rosemary. Protect peppers, chiles and tomatoes from late frosts. Begin planting vegetable, melon and squash seeds or transplants in mid April.

MAY

Fertilize your roses and flowers with a 10-20-10 fertilizer. Plant late blooming flowers now for beautiful Fall color. Seed warm season lawns such as bufffalo grass. Plant beans, corn, cucumber, eggplant, melons, pumpkins, peppers, squash and tomatoes.

JUNE

Provide some relief from the strong Albuquerque sun for your plants. Adjust your water schedule for the increasing heat and take advantage of mulches to help maintain soil moisture. Prune shrubs when they have finished flowering.
