Did you know that early fall is an excellent time to plant? Cooler weather means less stress on your new shrub or tree. For some plants, fall is even better for planting than spring! In the Fall, consider planting bulbs, cool-season perennials, and cool-season vegetables. Remember, even in winter, trees, shrubs and perennials will need water several times a month to give them a head-start in the spring.

Take advantage of our mild winters and enjoy fresh vegetables all year round. Plant lettuces, spinach kale and collards as well as peas, broccoli and cabbage in your fall vegetable garden. You'll discover that these veggies will grow well and you will not have to spend time weeding or fighting destructive insects. Root vegetables grow well in the fall as well. Harvest leafy greens continuously, and plant fast growing veggies such as radishes and carrots throughout the season.

Plant all your spring flowering bulbs in early fall. We have a wide selection of narcissus, tulips, irises, hyacinth, muscari and alium bulbs to choose from. Use a quality compost and supply the bulbs with steamed bone meal or bulb food to help them grow strong throughout the winter.
